‘The team at The Bear’s Paw in Warmingham were proud to achieve a finalist position in the Dining Pub of the Year category at the 2024 Cheshire Life Food & Drink Awards on Monday 22nd July.

The Bear’s Paw, part of the Nelson Hotels & Inns group, earnt its place in the final of the Cheshire Life Food & Drinks Awards 2024 and was in the running to win the Dining Pub of the Year award, with the winners being announced during a ceremony at Carden Park last week.

The Bear’s Paw is based in Warmingham, Cheshire and sits in the heart of the countryside, boasting 17 rooms and an AA Rosette-awarded gastropub.

Located in the village of Warmingham outside of Sandbach, The Bear’s Paw has been a part of the Nelson Hotels & Inns group since March 2008. Although it was planning to open its doors in June of 2008, an unfortunate electrical fire occurred holding the opening back another year. They eventually opened their doors on 20th May 2009 after an extensive re-build and refurbishment project.

With an AA Rosette-awarded restaurant, The Bear’s Paw serves a varied array of classic and contemporary dishes, made freshly every day with seasonal ingredients from a local Cheshire supply chain championed by long-serving head chef, Scott Cunningham.

On the menu, guests will find a blend of pub classics, European-inspired cuisine and quality grill items with seasonal favourites including roasted sea trout and pub classics such as the inn’s signature steak, Weetwood ale and mushroom pie.

The pub’s bar serves a variety of real ales from local micro-breweries, an array of gins including varieties from local supplier, Nantwich Gins, and a broad selection of wines from all over the world.

Alongside other prevalent Cheshire establishments, The Bear’s Paw vied for the title of ‘Dining Pub of the Year’ in the Cheshire Life Food & Drinks Awards. Although the inn did not take home the award this time, the team still celebrates the outstanding achievement to be shortlisted and recognised in such an established sector.

“It was an honour to be ranked within the Dining Pub of the Year category with many other outstanding pubs and hospitality businesses around the Cheshire area. We were in a category full of first-class dining pubs, and we were so pleased to see our inn recognised in this fantastic awards system,” says Andrew Nelson, Operations Director of Nelson Hotels & Inns.
